Rejoindre Novalix c’est avant tout faire partie d’une entreprise dynamique, aux valeurs humaines fortes et ambitieuses! Nous avons hâte d’en savoir davantage sur vous 😊
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist in Mass Spectrometry and Biophysics to support and drive biophysical assays in the area of small molecule - protein interactions and biomolecule characterization.
The role will focus on applying advanced mass spectrometry and complementary biophysical techniques to answer mechanistic questions and support discovery programs from hit identification to lead optimization.
The successful candidate will work within a cross functional environment alongside biochemists, structural biologists, and data scientists, contributing hands-on expertise and scientific insight.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific & Technical
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments using mass spectrometry-based techniques (e.g. LC–MS, MALDI-MS, HRMS) using Q exactive plus from ThermoFisher and TIMS TOF device from Bruker under the guidance of expert scientists
• Apply biophysical methods to characterize protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions (e.g. SPR, NanoDSF, MST, or related techniques)
• Develop and optimize experimental workflows for challenging biological systems (protein complexes, biologics, PTMs)
• Analyze and interpret complex datasets, integrating results across multiple biophysical and analytical readouts
•Contribute to mechanistic understanding of structure–function relationships
Collaboration & Communication
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across discovery, development, and analytics
• Present scientific results at internal meetings
• Author or contribute to technical reports, study documentation
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
• Identify and implement new methodologies in mass spectrometry and biophysics
• Contribute to laboratory best practices, assay robustness, and data quality standards
• Stay current with scientific advances and emerging tools in the field
Required Qualifications
• PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Structural Biology, or MSc with relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry applied to small molecules
• Solid understanding of biophysical principles governing protein-protein or protein-small molecule interactions
• Proven ability to independently design, troubleshoot, and interpret complex experiments
• Experience working in a regulated or quality-driven environment is a plus
• Proficiency in scientific data analysis and reporting tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with separation techniques (e.g. chromatography-based methods such as SEC, IEX, RP HPLC, or related approaches)
• Hands-on experience with SPR (Surface Plasmon Resonance)
• Strong background in protein biochemistry, including biochemical characterization of proteins and complexes
• Experience with laboratory automation, including automated sample preparation, liquid handling systems, or integration of analytical workflows is a strong plus
• Publication record in peer reviewed journals
• Experience in cross functional or matrix based organizations
Personal Attributes
• Scientifically curious and detail oriented
• Comfortable working across disciplines
• Proactive, adaptable, and solution focused
